Out of the box Android phones don't allow you to install apps outside of the Android Market. This is for security reasons so you don't install malicious apps accidently. But it's easy to change that. To install the Crosswords App outside of the Android Market you have to update your settings. Follow the following steps:
Go to Menu | Settings
| Applications and check Unknown
sources.
- Visit this page with the browser of your Android phone.
- Click on the Crosswords.apk file.
Open the downloaded api file.
On Android 1.6, it always list the "Phone calls, read
phone state and identity" rights, don't worry the app doesn't request
these rights.
